Orlindi Place of Safety (Katutura, Windhoek from 2010 to 2021)
From 2010 to 2021 Happydu ETS supported Orlindi Place of Safety, a little “children's home” located in Katutura, a very poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Windhoek. The place hosted more or less 30 children, some of them under the age of two.
DIRECT SUPPORT
In favor of Orlindi Place of Safety, Happydu Onlus provided:
In 2011 A.C. Milan donated through our association soccer shoes, t-shirts, shorts and socks to allow Orlindi boys to participate in the local championship.
In 2013 some children have been enrolled in new schools (who enrolled the children into new schools), in order to offer them a better level of education than that of the ones offered by the schools located in the surrounding neighborhoods.
This initiative is part of a larger project that Happydu Onlus intends to develop in order to allow as many children as possible a better course of studies and growth.
AID PROVIDED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS
Building of new house for children (year 2013)
In 2013, Happydu ETS was involved with other supporters in a project regarding the build-ing of a new children’s home inaugurated on October 24, 2013. The new “Orlindi” located in Katutura, currently consists of two houses. The first one, is completely financed by German supporters consists; of a kitchen, two bathrooms and three rooms (one for babies, one for fe-males and one for males). The second house, also financed by Happydu ETS (in the past called Mammadù Italia Onlus) consists of an office, a room dedicated for home work and after school activities, a restroom and two toilets. Outside there are two gazebos where children can play outdoor activities sheltered from the sun.
The second house was financed by Happydu Onlus all thanks to the laudable fundraising initia-tive promoted by Federico, a volunteer who after his touching experience in Orlindi decided to keep on helping children.
Cooperation with Little Treehouse Onlus (from 2013)
In 2013 Federico and one of his friends founded Little Treehouse Onlus (www.littletreehouse.org) with which Happydu ETS collaborates and shares Orlindi’s project. Both organizations work together very closely to meet any non-ordinary prompt requests for aid.
In favor of Orlindi Place of Safety, Happydu Onlus provided:
- School fees and uniforms
- Afternoon teacher
- Monthly supply of baby products
- Educational material and stationery
