Gerome (2013 – 2016)
Gerome is a child we met at Orlindi Place of Safety in August 2010. Since his birth, he had been forced to live with a stoma due to a severe malformation. Gerome's health problem was so complex that it required a long stay in Namibia on part of some members of our Association. For this reason in 2013 some members of Happydu Onlus decided to ask their employers for a "special" permission of approximately three months to help Gerome over there.
On October 22, 2013 Gerome was admitted and operated at the MediClinic in Windhoek, Namibia. This difficult step was possible thanks to a very valuable teamwork and the support of some local people who collaborated with the representatives of our Association. After finding out that the surgery could not be made at the Katutura Public Hospital, we turned to a private clinic.
At the same time, our Association was received by several Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare to obtain all the necessary permissions for the child's admission and for the various surgical interventions that followed. The Namibian Government sent a formal letter of thanks to Happydu Onlus (ex Mammadu Italia Onlus) for what our Association did in favor of Gerome.

Gerome is now feeling good and on January 15, 2014, to our sincere and deep happyness, he could attend his real first school-day as many other children!! All the members of Happydu Onlus (ex Mammadu Italia Onlus), the Namibian Government, but most of all Gerome, wish to thank everyone from the bottom of their hearts. If Gerome has now been given a new life, it is thanks to all Mammadù Italia Onlus supporters , who deserve our most sincere gratitude .
A very special thanks needs to be addressed to Randstad Group Italy for their initiative promoted in Gerome’s favor, since their employees financed more than 50% of the entire cost of the chirurgical operation.
